TORONTO, Ontario and NEW YORK, NY: OnX Enterprise Solutions, a leading enterprise data center IT solutions provider, today announced the successful deployment of managed backup and disaster recovery solutions for MECU. These services are offered to the credit union members of Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union (Alloya) based in Warrenville, Illinois through a partnership. Alloya IT Services, powered by OnX, delivers services such as managed backup, documentation, and business recovery testing (among others) for proven preparedness against disasters.
Motorola Employees Credit Union (MECU), based in Schaumburg, IL, serves the financial needs of nearly 40,000 consumer members internationally. These members are current and former employees and contractors of Motorola Solutions, Motorola Mobility, ARRIS, Continental, and Nokia Solutions Networks, among others. In the face of rising member service availability expectations and regulatory requirements, MECU sought an improved approach to backup and disaster recovery than the previously employed tape-based and hot site recovery system that did not guarantee recoverability of data and systems.
“It is a testament to the rigorous forethought and time spent on planning a staged disaster and then executing on the test to ensure we could recover our critical IT systems and connectivity to our Core Processor,” said Dave Findling, VP Information Technology, MECU. “A significant difference from our previous experience was that the OnX team took the lead on this project, I didn’t have to tie up MECU resources for days in planning and performing the DR exercise – OnX planned, documented, and performed the DR restoration, and did the troubleshooting.”
This approach allows Alloya IT Services to address the needs of its members with comprehensive solutions that avoid having to pay for a dual data center environment, hardware and other infrastructure, offering an economical advantage to Alloya’s members. “OnX Managed Services’ ability to take ownership of both data backupand disaster recovery with an outcome based, tested and proven ability to get critical applications and employees back up and running in the time frame required ensures the organization can address compliance, security and continuity concerns for our members in an economical and efficient manner,” said Teresa Brent, Product Manager for Alloya IT Services.
“For nearly a decade, our solution consultants have been recognized as experts in disaster recovery and business continuity, guest technology instructors to Federal Reserve examiners, and thought leadership speakers at FFIEC and other financial regulator events,” according to Biff Myre, Director Solutions, OnX Managed Services. “Our data centers are regularly visited by the various examiners that regulate and supervise financial institutions to ensure OnX’s services and facilities adhere to financial industry standards. OnX Managed Services’ deep experience in providing high availability for the financial IT sector while meeting regulatory requirements, coupled with a well-established partnership with Alloya, allows us to provide credit unions and other financial institutions with the due diligence and compliance programs required to meet the needs of their regular examinations, and more importantly protect their ability to serve member customers.”
“By truly managing data protection and systems recoverability and taking complete ownership of the recovery, we are able to reliably ensure the availability of MECU’s financial services to their international client base,” said Wayne Kiphart, President, OnX Managed Services. “As we see organizations mature from simply testing data restoration to truly proving recovery of their business, clients have found an outcome-based approach – including connecting business needs with functional use testing and documentation, of significant value and peace of mind.”
