Case Study: Pediatric hospital needs more data storage

The Challenge

A Children’s Pediatric Hospital with a mandate for care, research and teaching is experience explosive data growth and was no longer able to support their current storage capacity. They were in need of new hubs to store their large enterprise clinical application project as well as house their growing data needs. As a healthcare service, it was critical that they attain these changes with limited negative effect of their data usage.

The Solution

The OnX Team assessed the situation and determined an IT strategy development that would suit the exact needs of the hospital. They identified the problems, determined what improvements were needed and created a solution based on the hospital’s resources. The OnX solution required implementation of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) which would bring agility to the framework and additional storage capacity.

The Impact

With the new technology in place, the Hospital experienced significantly improved infrastructure capacity, performance and the added benefit of improved management. This improved their ability to treat patients through every stage of their care, from diagnosis to release. The implementation of the new technology also improved the pediatric service and care that the hospital staff provided to the young patients. The hospital realized productivity gains in terms of system availability and refocusing their IT staff to be available to work on more strategic tasks.
